Submission Guidelines
Michaela's Midnight Letters is a well-known publication in the fictional furry world in which the stories take place. Michaela the raccoon, pictured at top left, has been corresponding with her fans and readers, and putting the juiciest stories to print. In addition to the stories, the magazine contains art, articles (also fiction), and magazine ads for imagined furry products and services.
We accept letters written from the point of view of your character. For example:
Dear Michaela, I've been reading your stories but never thought I'd be lucky enough to have a story worth sharing! I'm a red fox, 5'6", not the greatest body, but I do get my fair share of second looks. Anyway, one day...
Our letters are anonymous, and confidentiality is assured. Letters must be under 2000 words and should be under 1500 words. Our magazine reserves the right to edit for length or clarity.
We accept stories about adult characters in consensual encounters.
We accept submissions of art as well. Send clean grayscale art, scanned in at 300 DPI. Please only send us art that has not been submitted to another publication.
We will only accept work featuring original characters that belong to you.
Submissions are juried and may not make it to print. When we accept your work for publication, we are purchasing first-publication rights (i.e., once we've published your story, you are free to include it in your own collections). Your submissions may be used in our advertising in print and on the World Wide Web.
Compensation: If we use your submission in our magazine, you are entitled to 1 free copy per published item. (If you submitted 1 story and 1 drawing, and they were both accepted, you would receive 2 free copies of the issue your work appears in.) You would also be entitled to purchase copies of Michaela's Midnight Letters at wholesale, to sell to your friends and fans. This way, you will have the chance to share in profits from your contributions.
Occasionally, we commission artists for covers and features.
